The recurring “U” shape of the logo, along with the design of the experience, is inspired by The Ocean Cleanup—the world’s largest initiative to remove ocean plastic. As the experience progresses, the logo gradually transforms into a closed “0” shape, unified, enclosed logo representing the idea of people, ideas, or elements coming together to form something complete. What starts as a simple curve evolves into a full, balanced form, illustrating the journey from separation to solidarity.
Marine Life Experience
Plastic Pollution Installation
On one side of the experience, visitors are immersed in a vibrant, thriving coral reef, alive with color and movement. On the opposite side, they encounter a stark contrast: a lifeless, bleached coral reef that they can physically touch. This room serves as a powerful reminder of the devastating impact of human actions on our environment.
Designed to immerse visitors in the perspective of marine life, it invites them to experience the harsh realities of a warming, polluted ocean. As visitors wear VR goggles, they are faced with a murky, distorted underwater view—representing the degraded state of our oceans. To intensify the effect, the room’s temperature is set uncomfortably high, mimicking the heat that is suffocating marine ecosystems.
YOU-Topia: YOU-Topia offers an immersive, shoreline experience that engages participants in the serious issue our oceans face. An escalating global crisis, ocean pollution and warming waters are significantly impacting marine life. It is estimated that over 700 species are affected by plastic debris and coral reefs have lost 50% of their living coral reef coverage since 1950 which is an environmental disaster prominently caused by human activity. This experience puts individuals in the marine creatures position, leading them through various environments that illustrate the a harmful effects of our actions on sea life. This traveling exhibit aims to inspire people to begin helping because without understanding there will be no change. YOU-topia, the ocean needs YOU.
